Realizing people didn’t hear about Srebrenica, or that they now just a little bit about war in BiH,
makes me angry and scared. Scared because Srebrenica didn’t happen somewhere in South Africa
or in India, it happened in Europe. In the heart of human rights and democracy.
Every year, when we mark anniversary of Srebrenica genocide, we can hear international officials
talking about remembering Srebrenica and how we should never allow something like genocide
happens again anywhere in world. Today, we have multiple genocides happening right now, all
over the Globe, and people who can do something aren’t doing anything. We didn’t take lesson
from Genocide and victims killed in Genocide.
Today, 25 years after genocide happened in Srebrenica, we have young Europeans who know
nothing about it. How can we expect it to never happen again when we don’t even know about it?
How can we expect people to build peace and heal the wounds when they don’t even know wounds
happened?
